How to play

Each round, be the first to empty your hand. Over the game, keep your total low.

The deal

  • Everyone gets 5 cards; the rest lie face down as the bank. The dealer’s last card goes onto the table by itself — the first move. The dealer may add cards of its rank, covers it if it is a six, and moves again if it made everyone skip.
  • Dice pick the first dealer; after that, the highest total deals.

Your move

  • Cover the top card of the table: the same suit, the same rank, or a Jack — a Jack covers anything.
  • Several cards of one rank may go down at once, the last one on top.
  • Before your move you may draw up to 3 cards from the bank. If a card fits you must play in the end; if nothing fits after 3, pass.
  • When the bank runs out, the table but its top card is shuffled into a new bank, and the round’s points are multiplied: ×2, then ×3, and so on.

  • Several eights or Aces hit the next players one each, round and round; once all have skipped, you move again. With two players, you move again after every skip.
  • All the sevens of a move hit the next player: three sevens, three cards.
  • A penalty can’t be passed on. After a seven or the Queen of spades the player draws, then moves.

The round’s end

  • The round ends once someone has no cards left — but nobody goes out on a six. The last card still acts.
  • The others score the cards in hand; whoever went out scores 0, or −20 for each Jack of the last move. Every score is times the bank’s multiplier.

Bridge

  • Four tens, Jacks, Queens, Kings or Aces in a row on top of the table make a bridge.
  • Whoever put down the fourth may declare it within 10 seconds: the round ends at once, and everyone, them too, scores the cards in hand; the Jacks of the move that made it score −20 each.

The game

  • Points add up from round to round; the lowest total wins.
  • With a limit, go over it and you’re out; land exactly on the limit or on half of it and your total goes back to 0. The last player left wins.
  • The host may finish the game at any time; the round under way isn’t scored.
